Feel free to reach out with any questions at micai@smia.mx.
We invite authors to submit their original research papers on Artificial Intelligence, written in English. The submissions must not have been previously published or be under review for another conference or journal. Only complete and finished papers will be reviewed, not abstracts. After your paper is accepted you will have a chance to improve it according to the comments of the reviewers, but the reviewers will assume that the text that they are reading is the text that is to be published, with the only changes they explicitly request (as opposed to reviewing a draft or abstract).
In particular, the papers must be submitted in the required format. We reserve the right to reject without review the submissions that do not follow the format guidelines.
Topics: All areas of Artificial Intelligence, Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Fuzzy Systems, research or applications.
MICAI is characterized by Springer as a premier conference in Artificial Intelligence.
All accepted papers from the Main Conference, Posters, and Workshops will be included in the MICAI proceedings, as follows:
Editorial policies for Springer LNAI can be found here.
Publications are indexed in Scopus, SCImago, DBLP, INSPEC, EI Compendex.
Submissions are received electronically. The submission and reviewing procedure are handled by the CMT system. To submit a paper:
Submission of the paper assumes that at least one author will register at the conference and present an accepted paper or poster. Full registration fee should be paid for each accepted paper.
The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
Templates. Please see the guidelines for a detailed list of requirements.
Size. The recommended length of a paper is up to 12 pages, but it can be larger, not exceeding 20 pages. If your page exceeds 20 pages, please contact the organizers first. We strongly encourage authors to use as many pages as really necessary for an excellent paper: longer papers have better impact and receive more citations. Do not sacrifice the quality of your paper to squeeze it into the page limit.
Double blind review policy. The review procedure is double blind. Thus the papers submitted for review must not contain the authors’ names, affiliations, or any information that may disclose the authors’ identity (this information is to be restored in the camera-ready version upon acceptance). In particular, in the version submitted for review please avoid explicit auto-references, such as «in [1] we show» — consider «in [1] it is shown». I.e., you may cite your own previous works provided that it is not deducible from the text that the cited work belongs to the authors. When citing your own previous work, please keep the names, but use third person (or no mention of the authors) in the reference:
Incorrect: In [1] we have shown …
[1] , Automatic Syntactic Analysis Based on Selectional Preferences, Springer, 2018.
Correct: In [1] it was shown …
[1] A. Gelbukh, H. Calvo. Automatic Syntactic Analysis Based on Selectional Preferences, Springer, 2018.

Still, the full paper registration must be covered, and the paper must be presented in the conference
No show policy
Publication in proceedings is conditioned to the registration and presentation of the paper at the conference by one of their authors. Unless there are exceptional and extenuating circumstances, those who violate this policy will appear in the “no show” list. Even under these circumstances, the paper registration must be covered and authors need to inform the program chairs to discuss ways of presenting the paper.
The no show list is available to all SMIA conference organizers and the violator will receive an official notification for being a “no show”. Repeat violators of the “no show” policy (i.e., those who violate this policy in two of three consecutive years or have a history of violation) will be excluded from participation in SMIA-related conferences for the subsequent 12 months, following the most recent violation.
How the No Show Policy is Enforced in Practice
The program chairs monitor four separate categories of authors:
If the authors have, or anticipate, unforeseen circumstances endangering or preventing the presentation, the Program Chair must be contacted immediately. Any alternative arrangements require approval by the program chairs.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in complying with these policies, which seek to ensure quality, commitment, and fairness in the participation of all conference attendees and authors.
For any additional questions or specific situations related to registration, presentations, or the application of the no-show policy, please contact the Organizing Committee through the official conference email: micai@smia.mx.
